Handlebars is the UK’s fastest growing repair network for micro- mobility. Part of the JustPark family, Handlebars aims to help cities breathe. With more bicycles and scooters on the road than ever before, but fewer and fewer maintenance workshops to support them, we’re on a mission to turn underutilised urban spaces into perfect locations for repair and maintenance. We have big plans and are just getting started. 


We are hugely enthusiastic about cycling & care deeply about helping people to travel around inner-cities without harming the environment. We are on a mission to repurpose under-used spaces (buildings, shops and car parks) and offer a convenient place for all forms of bicycles to get serviced and fixed. Today, there are too few places for repairs and this problem will grow as more people use the trusty bicycle.

About The Role 

This is an incredibly exciting role that will shape the success of our company. A company of 25, with 8 people currently working in the Handlebars HQ, as Finance Manager, you will have the freedom to form and mould the Finance Department. A key cog in the management engine, you will help to guide our growth plans with pragmatism. You will own the financial roadmap, be responsible for all types of financial modelling, helping us to use data to drive all key decisions. We are a small and collaborative team, who will be very receptive to the partnership approach we would be keen for this person to adopt within HQ. We currently have access to some brilliant shared services finance support, which will continue into the next year; you will be responsible for overseeing this support, which currently looks after our reporting and reconciliations. We are about to enter a phase of rapid growth, which will create a hugely exciting and varied role, perfect for someone looking to take the next leap in their career. Oh, and if you love cycling it is the best opportunity to be the next bike-obsessed member of our team. 

Your Responsibilities

  • You will manage the end-to-end accounting process for Handlebars

  • You will develop and direct the operational and financial models for the business

  • You will manage business reporting and offer insights based on detailed analysis

  • You will lead on financial forecasting and planning cycles

  • You will project manage any fundraising activity

  • You will partner with all departments to guide strong financial decision-making

  • You will implement first class financial processes across the business

  • You will support in the creation of shareholder updates and engage with investors on business performance


Your Experience 

  • Ideally you will have 3-5 years working as a Finance Manager or Financial Analyst

  • We would love for you to be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

  • It goes without saying that you are an Excel champion

  • You will thrive working independently, but know when to ask for help

  • Pragmatic is your middle name; you will help make big dreams achievable

  • Demonstrable experience analysing and communicating large data sets

  • Ideally you will be comfortable using Xero, or something similar

  • You pride yourself on your ability to get into very granular detail, whilst keeping an eye on the bigger picture

  • You will be confident making tough business decisions based on numbers, managing upwards

  • Flexible and proactive, you can rigorously prioritise different projects and tasks, adapting to changing circumstances

  • You have the ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a clear and succinct way
